Innovative ideas and exciting fibre feed products
Launched in 2013 by Tom Tarver – as a small pet hay manufacturer – Let’s Bale has grown into a specialist fibre feed company.
Tom’s connection with the equine industry goes way back – back to when he was a youngster cleaning up many awards in the pony grand prix classes, six bars, slaloms and jigsaws. There were no shaky starts with Tom on ‘Six Point Five’ – named as he was born during the 6.5 Edgecumbe earthquake. His other horse, ‘Fore Sure’, also benefited from Tom’s expert handling.
Tom’s raw talent was discovered early on. He was in the New Zealand development squad for four years and twice in the New Zealand team for the FEI Children’s International competition.
By his late teens, the time had come for Tom to head out into the world and “make something other than horses”. It didn’t take long for him to acquire three farms on the outskirts of Kawerau – and there he saw his next opportunity. Tom, with his background in horses and agriculture, identified a need for top quality forage feeds – and so Let’s Bale was born. These days Tom and his partner, Lucia Voss, are competing back on the ESNZ circuit with a team of show jumping horses and are also involved in exporting horses to Japan.
Forage proudly grown in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand
We, at Let’s Bale, pride ourselves on our product knowledge and service. We sow, grow and bale all our own forage on rich volcanic soil in the heart of the dairy country, on the Rangitaiki Plains.
Volcanic soils are known to bond well with organic materials, and may form a nutrient-rich layer that facilitates the growth of plants on the surface. The minerals in the soil form a chemical reaction when exposed to the atmosphere, allowing them to be utilised by plants as nutrients.
Partnerships for growth
Let’s Bale has partnered with Tui Products Ltd, Mount Maunganui. Together, we’re growing and expanding with innovative and exciting new products.
Partnerships for growth Let’s Bale supports the local community and its people
Community spirit is important to Let’s Bale – and we like to play our part. We provide local jobs, and bring innovation and competition to the Kawerau region. Our diverse range of locally made products and services are proudly supplied to the people of New Zealand – and the world.
